Four Great Floral Cards

I went to Marian Dunn's card class last night with good friend Jen R and new friend Julie S.

We enjoyed passing the baskets with all the pre-trimmed materials for cards inside and working at our own speed.

Most instructional card for me was the one with the 3 ribbon flowers.

I would not likely have attempted to do this at home.

We stitched along one length of the ribbon with a darning needle, gathered the ribbon,

tied tightly and voila! I have so many ribbon scraps this technique will be used on.

Florabunda

Florabunda is a type of rose with many blooms... but to me, here, it means Floral Abundance.

Our resort was very well maintained and exquisitely landscaped.

I love the way palm fronds move , glisten in the light, and wave in the night. We had some spectacular giant ones in Mexico right outside our hotel room balcony . The colours were surreal: the bright orange and blue painted buildings were lit up at night to contrast with the pink and green foliage.

Beth joined me tonight and inspired this layout with a plan she had downloaded from the internet and printed off. Coloured resist Chipboard is from Close to My Heart . I also tried my new scallop punch that I bought at Lasting Impressions.

Serendipity

These are 6 cards that i created in my spare time at the chalet with die cuts, Grace papers, and Serendipity stamps. The design is extremely simple so I added layers of paper flowers to embellish. I like the ones that stamp handwriting on the flower petals the best. I used up most of my desert sand die cuts . Now that I completed these, I will work on some using the light blue die cut flowers from the same kit.

Happy Birthday to my Daughter Chloe

Chloe is turning 17 on Monday... going on 7 or 27 depending on her viewpoint. Certainly this has been a challenging year in parenting but I see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. She is doing her final year of high school . If she can get a scholarship and get into Fanshawe College I will be so happy for her.

I made up this card using Be True (ctmh acrylix) : U R smart caring generous special kind beautiful. I used metallic silver CS to matt the Bazill papers . I stamped U R in chocolate and outlined it with a black marker and added clear Stickles. The flowers were cut out from a glossy pattern paper and highlighted with stickles . The rhinestone brads were a gift from Julia H. (part of my seriously good stuff hoard) On the inside it says Happy Birthday . I may add a few more tiny silver rhinestones. This card is all about the bling, not the artwork.

I hope she likes it!

She is thinking of inviting people over to the pool tomorrow afternoon. She doesnt want to have a "birthday party" since she is an older teen. We have a firepit here they are welcome to use since I stocked up on wood on purpose. We will see!

flowers from Rick

I came home from work on Thursday and couldn't believe my eyes. I had to open the card to see who sent them ! Rick had never sent flowers before and this was a very romantic extravagant gesture from him. I love the arrangement with the square vase and river stones on the bottom. You can bet I will reuse this vase again! Thank you Rick for renewing my faith in you.

LOVE MONTH

Love is all emcompassing and touches all the aspects of my life, mental , physical, spiritual, emotional. The older I get, the less selfish I become and the more able to give love to those I nurture. My students, my children, my family, my partner, myself. I have been reading and meditating on love all month.

Rick gave me these beautiful roses last Thursday, with petals like velvet. They represent the two of us. Whenever I see them I am thankful.
